Wivenhoe Dam October 2010

Post by barra_on_fly » Thu Oct 14, 2010 10:33 am

I now work for the bulk supply authority here in SE Queensland and we look after the dams in the area.
This gives me access to some cool stuff sometimes.
We had a lot of rain recently so they have had to release some water....

1 gate open... 350+ tonnes a second per gate.

Yeah they are my pics, both Somerset and Wivenhoe are Western District, which I do maintenance. We are based at Mt Crosby, but we look after dams, water treatment plants and the like up to 130k's away.
We get to go through the dams walls and go places no one else can go!

The dams are stocked, however Wivenhoe is electric/sail/ paddle only and it is HUGE. Somerset is powerboat as well.
