Go Anywhere Winner Beach and Rock Competition

Post by Ross Compe » Tue Jun 05, 2018 12:09 pm

Well done to Tony and Filomena D'Alonzo with their respective wins in the Offshore Angling Clubs Perth Go Anywhere angling competition. 8) 8)
Filomena won the ladies trophy while husband Tony has snared the veterans event with mixed bags that included Tailor,Herring and Skippy.
Goes to show you don't always need big fish to win competitions.
The event was held in early May and good luck to them in their clubs next event this weekend in and around Jurien Bay.

Hillarys Pink Snapper

Post by Ross Compe » Sat Jun 16, 2018 2:24 pm

The North Westerly blow last week had the gafs swinging as at least 5 Pink Snapper around the 5 kilo mark hit the stones around the spray and rain.
The source is reclusive though its tru I shared a shandy on a hot day only a week ago to to get the story from early June.

July 7 and 8 was the weekend that Wayne Drage chose to fish the Ocean Reef Marina during his clubs Go Anywhere beach and rock event.
An unusual choice of location given that he could have fished almost anywhere state wide.
Goes to show how good an angler this guy is and knowing how and when to fish a location with a whole lot of experience and patience often pays in results. :!: :!:
Wayne accrued a mixed bag of 9.7 kgs that included 8 Skippy,1 Tailor,1 Pike,3 Wrasse,12 Herring and 6 Pilch[Yellow Eyed Sea Mullet].
Another Open Club competition win and another trophy for the cabinet.
Good on yer mate

Passing of Richard Maciejak

Post by Ross Compe » Tue Sep 18, 2018 7:04 am

Big loss to friends of anglers everywhere is the recent passing of Mr Richards Maciejak . Amazing angler who could just keep finding great locations and fished them well almost immediately.
He would just put you on the spot and start producing the fish he went there for..
Very, very good reader particularly around rocks and landbased locations.
Rick dabbled with boats as well and landed some Jewfish and Pink Snapper etc.
He was a champion angler with State and club and a real valued adventurer who loved 4wd and offroad.
A few photos of him and his son Paul from that beautiful world he liked to talk about.
