1977 SKIPJACK 24' CUDDY CABIN PROJECT BOAT

Trial Run Napa River June 7th 2008

So me and Scotty Flotre took the boat for a trial run up and down the Napa River with some casual (non-serious) fishing thrown in...

The river is the last place that I want to fish in this particular boat... (I have my little 12 footer for that)

I bought it for the bay and the ocean but we have to iron out all of the bugs first.

Very small I know but after all these years working on it, at least the boat has actually gone out and returned to the dock without breaking down. Caught/released a couple of teeny stripers. Napa River, California. Skipjack 24' Cuddy Cabin Project Boat

The boat's back on the trailer and we are heading for home!
Scotty's searching for his ride home in the wrong parking space. It's over there Scotty...

Looks

It looks like a very capable hull Bob, - what bugs have you got left to fix?

The old list em and do em one by one, usually gets you there, eventually.

Cheers

Hi Shann,

1) It ran great at both idle and under power to begin with but towards the end of the day it stalled a couple of times at idle. I have one idea at this time - change the water separating fuel filter...

2) a very slight oil burning smell... but blowing no smoke

BTW it's a full 24' long from bow to stern, deep vee, with a single motor and no power steering... It's a pig to steer, has a huge turning circle and is not forgiving when docking in a current or with a wind... it's a real man's boat... dunno what I'm doing with it (it's a bloody handfull I can tell you!!!)

Feels great up on the plane though. Rides like a charm. No pounding.

I was so pleased just to go out and come back under my own power... I may venture out into the Bay ... just for the halibut!

(that's an old pun)
